Turning
Turners use metal cutting machines such as turning machines and milling machines in their work. Turning calls for finesse and precision and consists in new construction almost without exception. Turners design and make components for use in machinery and equipment. Authorised to work as turners are those who have earned a journeymans certificate in turning, issued by the Minister of Industry and Trade.
Framework and organisation of training
The average duration of the education and training programme is four years, organised as follows: formal education for six school terms, or 108 weeks including examinations, and 60 weeks of on-the-job training. The programme concludes with a journeymans examination.
