The first half of the study consists of basic courses with both practical and theoretical studies. After that, students are likely to take two compulsory standardized exams and then choose a specialized branch in the trade.

Tinsmithing

Tinsmiths measure, draw and construct objects from sheet metal, prepare working drawings of ceiling ducts based on drawings by designers and look after the construction, installation and maintenance of ventilation systems. Industrial Mechanics

The work of industrial mechanics consists primarily in the installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of machinery and technical equipment on ships, in processing plants, industrial machines, factories, power plants and power substations. Industrial mechanics install machinery and technical equipment using drawings and other information from technicians and manufacturers when needed. Industrial mechanics plan preventative maintenance, keep track of the condition of machinery, find malfunctions if relevant and repair those. Authorised to work as industrial mechanics are those who have earned a journeyman’s certificate in industrial mechanics, issued by the Minister of Industry and Trade.
