Head of Department: Skarphéðinn Skarphéðinsson
The work performed by plumbers consists largely in installing and repairing cold water, hot water, drainage and gas plumbing systems in private homes, institutions and companies. They install appliances and fixtures such as toilets, sinks, bathtubs, shower units and sit baths. They also work at installing snow melting systems, cooling systems and solar energy systems. This includes adjustments and inspections, consultation, sales and promotion. Authorised to work as plumbers are those who have earned a journeyman’s certificate in plumbing, issued by the Minister of Industry and Trade.
