House Building

House builders perform all general tasks relating to the construction of houses and man-made structures, such as constructing moulds, woodworking, installing windows and doors, installing glazing, siding and panelling in- and outdoors, constructing scaffolding, constructing stairs, laying wooden floors, constructing and installing fixtures, as well as maintaining and renovating older buildings. Authorised to work as house builders are those who have earned a journeyman’s certificate in house building, issued by the Minister of Industry and Trade.

Framework and organisation of training

The average duration of the education and training programme is four years, organised as follows: formal education for five school terms, or 90 weeks including examinations, and 72 weeks of on-the-job training. The programme concludes with a journeyman’s examination
